» RothleyRIVER SOAR![]() The River Soar forms part of the parish boundary of Rothley with the boundary line running down the centre of the river. ![]() The northern part of the River Soar parish boundary ends just beyond Sileby Mill. ![]() This part of the River Soar parish boundary includes a 'cut' as part of the Grand Union Canal. ![]() The southern part of the River Soar parish boundary starts just below Cossington Mill beyond the junction with the River Wreake. ![]() 2006 The River Soar and River Wreake meet close to Cossington Mill. The Wreake is to the left and navigable but not the Soar to the right. 2006 ![]() The River Soar runs under the bridge towards Cossington Mill. 60 years ago the bridge was metal and wood with a 'hump' and very tricky to cross with missing and loose boards. Some things stay in your mind as a child and I well remember this.

It emerges from under the bridge to run past Cossington Meadows. Osier Villa to the right. 2006 ![]() Osier Villa stands on the 'island' with the River Soar and the Grand Union Canal on either side. ![]() A lovely stone carving showing the importance of the osiers to the Soar valley villages. This can clearly be seen on Osier Villa from the Cossington Road bridge. ![]() Osier Villa 50 years ago. Many will remember the 'humped-back' bridge, a bit of history lost to the modern world.
The River Soar emerges on the right hand side to join with the canal to the left of Osier Villa.
