Rothley Brook joins the Parish of Rothley just beyond the bridge on Thurcaston Lane leading to the village of Thurcaston.
Under the bridge on Hallfields Lane turning towards The Old Vicarage and arcing round the football field, known as the Island Field, emerging under the bridge on Homefield Lane, running through to Farnham Bridge on the old A6. It then ends its journey at the River Soar. There is a diversion of the brook by The Grange in Fowke Street to create a water feature, hence the name of Island Field. ![]() This is where Rothley Brook joins the Parish of Rothley on the Thurcaston boundary. The old stone bridge that was demolished in 1979 was painted by Bob Lovatt of Town Green Street. The bridge was in the field next to his house. Bob admits that he used a bit of artistic licence by painting it as a double arch when it was, in reality, a single arch.
Bob's wife Joan created an embroidered picture of the old bridge in 2004 based on his painting. Last Updated Sat, 19 Jul, 2008. |
