SCAM LETTERS

These come by post or e-mail and there are so many of them that you need to be on the alert at all times. Money for free and prizes for competitions that you never entered are just not true and you end up paying them a lot of money and receiving nothing.

These letters are most often sent to elderly people so please ensure that your relatives and friends with elderly relatives know about these letter scams.

Also, why not make sure that they do not have their names and addresses on the public version of the Electoral Roll?

If you receive a letter then do not hesitate to contact Trading Standards as they will help you to check this out. Ring them on 08454 04 05 06. You will find them very friendly and helpful.

SCAM LETTER JANUARY 2008

Beware of a letter telling you that you have won up to £25,000 or other valuable prizes. You have to ring a Premium Line phone number to claim and that call could cost you a minimum of £9.
If you receive a letter from The Leicester Prize Register then please let Trading Standards know on the above number. Please do not act on this letter other than to ring Trading Standards.
