WAR MEMORIALS IN ROTHLEY

We will remember them

Memorials to those who served and died in both World Wars come in many forms and range from monuments to small plaques, parks and gardens to church organs.
In Rothley they are being researched as part of the War Memorials Project for Leicestershire and Rutland and to update the United Kingdom National Inventory of War Memorials (UKNIWM).

The dates for the First World War on memorials can be 1914-1918 or 1914-1919 and this is true in Rothley. Although fighting ceased in November 1918 some peace treaties were not signed until 1919 and "Peace Day" in Britain was officially the 19th July 1919, the day of the Victory Parade.

Please visit the following pages for information on the research to date.

Please contact Marion Vincent, the secretary of the Rothley Heritage Trust on 0116 2375156 or vincent.mbe82@yahoo.co.uk if you have any information about memorials or the fallen.
