THE LIMES HOTEL
35 Mountsorrel Lane
Rothley
Leicester.
Built in 1906 as a private house called 'The Limes'.
There is a stone plaque above the central first floor window, not easy to read as it has been painted black.
It was, at one time, the home of Dr. McQueen and he held his surgery in a room on the left hand side of the building.
When the surgery moved to new premises in 1969 the property was sold as business premises and converted to 'The Rothley Guest House', which served lunches in addition to being residential. This was owned by John and Gladys Buckingham who sold it in 1983 when it was refurbished and re-named The Limes Hotel.
It closed in 2005 and is currently being converted to 11 apartments and 2 bungalows.
Information at February 2006.
