Buses The main bus between Scraptoft and Leicester is the Arriva 56 from Humberstone Gate Stand E3. It circles through Scraptoft Village, travelling along Covert Lane, down through the David Wilson estate, along Beeby Road and up Church Hill, then down Station Lane, turning left into Pulford Drive. The 56 runs every half an hour Mon-Sat (nothing on Sundays). The first bus from Leicester leaves at 07.09 and the last at 18.19. The first bus from Scraptoft leaves at 06.35 and the last at 16.45. View the timetables here. An alternative is the Arriva 53/53A which runs every day (including Sundays) much more frequently than the 56 and until 23.00. It stops at the top of Bowhill Grove, just before the Scraptoft Village sign on Scraptoft Lane, giving a shortish walk into the village. Finally, the First Bus 38 'Red Line' to Nether Hall stops on New Romney Crescent from where it is a short walk along Hamilton Lane to Main Street in Scraptoft Village. The bus runs every 15 minutes weekdays and hourly on Sundays. Fish and Chip Van Visits Mondays between 5.45 and 6.00 pm, stopping first outside the newsagents on Main Street, then on to The Drive, and finally to Malsbury Avenue (David Wilson estate). Post Office (Main Street) Opening hours: 9.00-13.00, 14.00-17.30 weekdays. 9.00-12.30 Saturdays. Closed on Sundays. Schools There are no schools in Scraptoft village itself. The two nearest Primary schools are Fernvale Primary on Somerby Road, Thurnby, and Scraptoft Valley Primary on New Romney Crescent in Netherhall. Rushey Mead on Melton Road, Leicester is probably the nearest secondary school. Shops Scraptoft Newsagents (Main Street) Co-op Supermarket (Main Street) There is a cashpoint machine outside the supermarket. The nearest Community Recycling Centre is at Bridge St. (off Spence St.) Law and Order Scraptoft is served by PC 1309 Paul Faithfull and PCSO Matt Kiff (pictured below).
