» SeagraveResources for School teachersWe've been asked a lot of questions recently by teachers wanting to include Victorian dancing in their clasroom. Fantastic, we hope we can help. Please ask us and we will add your questions and our answers here. Please let us know if you found this useful or would like to see anything added. Is there a single CD we can use for some of the dances your show ?Unfortunatly most of the music we use is on a multitude of CDs, but the best we have found so far is A Shetland Dance by Da Fustra St Bernard's Waltz circa 1913 good stamping in that ! Military two step 1904 Gay Gordon's 1907 Dashing White Sergeant Victorian If you have "My bonnie lies over the ocean" it goes well with the Friendly Waltz Instructions for the dances are in our dance booklets. Where can we get sheet music for the dances ?Does your group do displays or classes ?We are willing to demonstrate to local schools, but we do ask for a donation towards our charity. For schools further away we would have to charge expenses in addition. Can you suggest some typical Victorian dances which are no longer danced as country dances ?There are some great quadrilles, which are very typical of the Victorian period, on these CDS linked below and they come with instruction books. Allow plenty of time for despatch though as they come from Australia. The Grand March was a typical start to most victorian balls. The Spanish waltz another graceful dance. These and the Lancers plus several other set and couple dances can be found on the CD by Spare Parts. There is also sheet music to accompany this CD. Last Updated Tue, 26 Aug, 2008. |
