Welcome to Shearsby
Shearsby is a beautiful little village situated in a rural area around nine miles south of Leicester in the Harborough District.
Mentioned in the Doomsday Book as Seuesbi/ Suesbi or Suesuesbi. This small village was probably named after a farm settlement or it may be used to describe the hill on which the village stands.
Local attractions include St Mary Magdalene Church built in the 15th century and an excellent Hostelry in the form of Shearsby Bath and The Chandlers Arms [CAMRA Country Pub of the Year for several years].
Other features of the village are the Village Green and Hall where local events take place such as Live on the Green music concert, coffee mornings, fetes, charity auctions etc.
Shearsby also has several grade 2 listed buildings:- Cobblestones, Yeomans Cottage, Bean Hill Farm House and garden wall, WheatHill Farm House, Little WheatHill, St Mary Magdalene Church, Lime Tree Cottage, Woodbine Cottage and Rose Cottage.
