» ShepshedShepshed Community MosaicAs early as 1995 street based consultative workshops established that there was a great interest in and support for public art, particularly wall mounted art, in the town. The project was proposed in spring 2002 and given the go ahead at a Shepshed Partnership meeting on the 17th April 2002. A sub-group was formed from Charnwood Arts, Charnwood Borough Council and local residents to develop the idea of a community mosaic. This was intended to build upon the physical improvements carried out in the Hall Croft and the Bull Ring. It was decided that the mosaic should be a piece of art work created for the community, by the community. A wide variety of Shepshed people and organisations took part in the art workshops, which ran over six months - St.Winefrides, Oxley, Shepshed High School, Hind Leys, Glenmore Community Centre, Shepshed Historical Society and members of the public - ranging from retired people, toddlers, mothers, with support from the County and Borough Councils. ![]() Last Updated . |
