The Grapevine is a brand new online discussion forums aimed at older and disabled adults, their family, friends and carers, but it can be used by anyone – from anywhere in the world!

Users can log-on to discuss topics including news, sport, the arts or share jokes, poetry and recipes.
Visitors to the site can also talk about what it’s like to be getting older, to live with a disability and to care for others.

You can also send a message to David Sprason, our Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care. You could give feedback about your care or make suggestions to help us continue to improve our service.

The Grapevine is run by Leicestershire CareOnLine (a team at Leicestershire County Council) which uses the internet to help reduce isolation and improve the quality of life for older and disabled people and carers.

The Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) will be launched in April 2008 to provide an emergency medical service for the East Midlands. Prior to this, the region had relied on older, slower aircraft with limited space for onboard patient treatment. The new service will move the emphasis from transporting casualties to hospital, to recognising the need to get Doctors and paramedics to the scene of incidents as quickly as possible, providing lifesaving treatment and medication at the scene and en-route to hospital. The new Augusta 109 helicopter can be airborne within 45 seconds of the crew receiving a call, will be quicker, bigger and can be operated for longer flying hours. From its base it will take just five minutes to reach Leicester Royal Infirmary and 14 minutes to get to Derbyshire Royal Infirmary.
The Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) will be funded entirely by voluntary donations. They will receive no assistance from Government or the National Lottery. So it will depend on a major fund-raising boost to buy it and keep it in the air. Fundraisers must raise £300,000 in five months and then £1.5m each year. Help Bradgate Lions Club to help them, you never know who will need it next.

Charnwood Road Baptist Church is situated near the bottom of Charnwood Road near to the Bull Ring. The church has been here since 1834 when the present building was built. The church itself was founded in Chapel Street (formerly Meeting Lane) in 1693 and is one of the oldest Baptist churches in Leicestershire.
We meet twice on Sundays; at 10.45 am and 6.00pm for praise and worship. The first Sunday morning of the month is usually an 'All Age Worship' service.
We celebrate Communion twice a month; on the first Sunday evening and on the third Sunday morning.
There are several meetings during the week:
A Bible Study and Prayer Meeting is held on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm.
On Wednesday afternoons at 2.45 we hold a Ladies Fellowship Meeting.
On Fridays at 6.00pm the Girls Brigade meets.
We have a monthly Luncheon Club and also enjoy Social events together and join together for church walks in the beautiful countryside around Charnwood.
