What can I use my village site for?
Find My Nearest
This is the most popular function on the site and helps you to find information on your nearest community groups (such as brownies, WI groups etc.) and local businesses (such as plumbers, pubs, dentists etc.). You can even use it to find detailed information on planning applications in your area! Council Services
This is where you can find information about such things as council tax bands, rubbish collections, recycling, roads etc. It contains information from Leicestershire County Council and all of the district and borough councils across the county. Add your own village news
Here you will find the latest news from your village. It could be anything from a report on the village fete to the winner of the pub quiz. Once you have registered with the site you can add your own news items. It couldn't be easier; just click on ADD NEW and fill in the simple form and your item will be added to the village site. Go and see the Leicestershire news section Add details of your own events
The events section is essentially a village calendar and can contain details of any future activity within the community. It could be coffee mornings, the village fete, church services, meetings of the local brownies/scouts, fixtures of the village football team or even the pub quiz night. It really can contain ANY activities taking place in the village. Go and see the Leicestershire events calendar Add contact details for your community group
The contacts section can contain details of anyone that offers some kind of service to the community. This could be someone from the church, leader of the brownies/scouts, leader of the village football team or representative from any of the local groups. Go and see the Leicestershire contacts section Add a link to your own website
This is available for any websites that are useful to the local community. It could be a privately run village website or a website for a local group. Local businesses can also add details of their websites. Go and see the Leicestershire web directory Add your pictures to the village gallery
The picture gallery can include anything from the village, perhaps pictures of places of interest in the village, such as the pub, church or duckpond. It could also contain photos from particular events that have taken place, like images of the village fete or from the pub quiz night. You can even add photographs taken with your mobile phone. Go and see the Leicestershire picture gallery Sell items on the noticeboard
The noticeboard is effectively the classified ads section. It can contain items for sale, or you can celebrate someone’s special birthday. We’ve even had details of lost cats added to the noticeboard. It is also available for businesses to advertise local job vacancies. As always, there is no charge for any of the services on the site. Go and see the Leicestershire noticeboard Get involved in the discussion forumsThe discussion forums are available for people to talk about any issues in their community: anything from family history queries to complaining about the traffic through your village.
