Research on Coleorton Pottery 1898

Research on Coleorton Pottery 1898

I am researching the work of The Art Potter Giovanni Carlo Manzoni. His Pottery known as Minerva Ware was transferred to The Coleorton pottery in 1898 from Granville Pottery Hanley Stoke On Trent. I am interested in any photographs of the Coleorton Pottery or names of workers, anecdotes, anything to do with the period around the turn of the Century. I am producing a book / exhibition catalogue and all information will be credited.

The paperback edition of my book on three local girls from Bradgate Manor, The Sisters Who Would be Queen; the tragedy of Mary, Katherine & Lady Jane Grey, is published this month. It has new material in it, such as my discovery of a number of frauds concerning Lady Jane Grey. I believe it is on some kind kind of special offer at Waterstones. There has been quite a bit of publicity about Jane recently with the opening of the Delaroche exhibition at the National Gallery. I gave a talk there on Friday (scary) and am giving another at the National Portrait Gallery on May 13th. Anyway, I hope some of you out there might enjoy the book! Leanda de Lisle, Osbaston.

Revue of 'The Stones' Concert

'The Stones' yes that is the name of the 'Rolling Stones' tribute band that performed at Stoney Stanton Social Club, last Friday 26th Feb 2010. Over 230 people attended, not one were disappointed. What a brilliant performance of some of 'The Rolling Stones' classics. Energy, enthusiastic, great musicians, lead vocals Ben (Mick Jagger) to a tee. 'The Stones' are a band we will have back time and time again. Fantastic atmosphere, one not to miss next time around. Now looking forward to Limehouse Lizzy playing at the Club Sat 27th March. Another brilliant band.

School days 1960

I lived in Lockington from 1960 when I was 4 years old. My name then was Sharon Berry and my dad worked as carpenter and joiner for Lord Curzon. We lived on Church St (across from the Church) Lockington. I went to school in Hemington. Looking for people who used to live in the village at the time. This was the perfect childhood.
