St James Church - Sutton Cheney - 29 May 2008

The belfry of St James Church, Sutton Cheney, can be seen rising above this group of enchanting country cottages. This tiny church has an important claim to fame. History records that King Richard III of England prayed here on the night before the Battle of Bosworth Field. Inside a plaque commemorates his death: "Remember before God, Richard III, King of England and those who fell in Bosworth Field, having kept faith. 22 August 1485."
