Centre Stage is the Rural and Community Touring Scheme for Leicestershire and Rutland bringing opportunities for professional live touring to village and community venues throughout the two counties.
Touring companies and performers with regional, national and international profiles who specialise in work for small spaces tour to venues across Leicestershire and Rutland offering a fantastic night out on your doorstep.
These tours include a wide range of theatre, music, opera, dance, storytelling and poetry, children's theatre, puppetry and comedy theatre, with members of the local community hosting the event. When possible, and appropriate, allied participatory workshops are offered and these are placed in the local community.
All the shows listed are professional performances subsidised by your local District or Borough Council, and the two County Councils of Leicestershire and Rutland.
Most of the shows are suitable for general family audiences; however, to make it easier for you to plan a great night out, look for the family friendly symbol and particulary the age recommendation. For more information on the Scheme call Sue Roberts: 01544 327877
Tickets are sold locally for each event by the village or community promoters. Check with each venue for ticket prices.
The scheme is co-ordinated by Artservice on behalf of The Leicestershire and Rutland Arts Development Officers' Forum.

Environ - now Groundwork Leicester and Leicestershire

Formerly known as Environ, Groundwork Leicester & Leicestershire is an independent charity and member of the national organisation, Groundwork UK. We provide information, advice and practical help to encourage individuals and organisations to take practical steps towards a more sustainable future.

Our history began when Environ was created in 1993 by the merger of two independent charities: Leicester Ecology Trust and Leicester Environment City Trust. The origins of these organisations go back to 1983 when the City Wildlife Project was first established - so we have a long track record!

We became a Groundwork Trust in April 2006 and changed our name to Groundwork Leicester & Leicestershire.

Our workforce of over 40 professional staff is supplemented by committed volunteers, trainees and work placements. We pursue an ethos of partnership in all that we do, engaging with government bodies, businesses and local communities to involve everyone in action for the future.

Farming Crisis Network (FCN), founded in 1993, is a UK network of groups of volunteers drawn from the farming community and rurual churches, ready to help farming people and families as they seek to resolve their problems.
For some all that is needed is an opportunity to talk. Others may need someone to "walk with" them for weeks, months or longer.

FCN’s service is confidential and free of charge.
If you would like to contact FCN for help or on behalf of someone who needs help, please ring the FCN helpline on 07002 326 326 (available 1.00am-11.00pm)

FCN is part of the Farming Help partnership of national charities working in the farming community, together providing a wide range of complementary support. FCN also works with and alongside many other organisations in order to source and provide the best available help in every individual situation. This includes professional advice and support where appropriate.

The Society was founded in 1855 and over the years has changed its name slightly, but its aims have virtually remained the same; 'to promote the study of history, archaeology, antiquities and architecture of the county'. Membership stands at around 400 and in addition some 100 institutions receive our annual publication around the world.
Having celebrated our 150th anniversary we now look forward to strengthening the work of the Society in order to maintain its position as the premier archaeological and historical society in the county.

Details of membership, publications, library and lectures can be found on the web site www.le.ac.uk/lahs

I am a qualified Yoga teacher working in this area. Allow me to tell you briefly about Yoga. Yoga is not about sitting cross legged or standing on your head. It is an ancient system for life and has something to offer to everyone. You could improve your posture and breathing, your body may develop more strength and become more flexible. There are techniques in Yoga that can help you manage and deal with the stresses that we all experience in everyday life. The best thing is that Yoga sets not barriers of fitness or the lack of it ,age, ability or disability. If you would like to find out more about yoga in general or the classes that are available in this area please contact me on 0116 2302402 or email moira@hardy-smith.fsnet.co.uk.
