Since May 2002 many organisations, individuals and various other bodies have been involved with the Healthcheck for Thurmaston project. The final pieces of information are currently being gathered. Questionnaires were filled in by Thurmaston residents at the Thurmaston Co-op, Library and at the Christmas event held at the Memorial Hall. These opinions and ideas will all be considered with the vast amount of information that has been gathered to form an 'Action Plan for Thurmaston'.

The Action Plan document will include ways forward to improve Thurmaston as a place to live, work in and visit. A number of projects will be outlined and the task of finding funding, lead organisations and volunteers will begin. The exciting part of the project will really begin with the launch of the Action Plan for Thurmaston, which will come in the New Year. This will provide local people to become involved in project to enhance their quality of life.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has provided information and support to the project, and especially those people who have been involved in forming ideas and projects to go into the Action Plan. The Action Plan for Thurmaston provides an opportunity for everyone to become involved with improving their village, so keep an eye out for further details of how you can help.

Thurmaston has also been given the opportunity to develop it's own community web pages through the Leicestershire Villages website. The web pages will contain information such as local events, places to visit, information about groups and societies in the area, as well as links to employment, benefits and health websites, amongst others. The pages are designed to reflect the needs and opinions of the local community, this means your input is needed. You don't have to be an expert in web design or even know much about computers if you want to become involved. We are looking for people with lots of ideas and a little time to spend updating the pages and adding interesting new features.
