TILTON GREEN

TILTON GREEN was formed in the summer of 2008 just after a large Parish Plan consultation, which had revealed strong feelings concerning a wide range of environmental issues. Early on Tilton Green won a countywide competition and funding from ENABLE (Environmental Action for a Better Leicestershire) to help us become a Climate Friendly Community and has since been selected as one of only 6 Energy Saving Trust 'Green Communities' in the East Midlands and won the Calor Best Sustainable village for the Midlands award.

Tilton Green now operates at three interlinked levels: education, behaviour and collaboration. The overall aim is to create a village community that becomes more sustainable in every sense: environmental, economic and social.

Recycling at the Village Hall

In addition to the materials collected kerbside and the facilities in the Rose & Crown car park, there is now a well established monthly collection of other materials at the Village Hall. Click here to find out more.

Composting

Composting is a natural process where organisms such as bacteria, insects, worms and fungi break down garden waste and kitchen scraps into a crumbly soil-like material called compost.
By composting at home, you can harness this process, reducing waste and producing an excellent soil improver. For more information please click here
