Sainsbury’s recently announced its plans to reduce the number of free plastic bags they give away by 50% by April 2009. To achieve this target Sainsbury’s Belgrave Road is working together with its customers to reduce, re-use and recycle plastic bags, making a positive difference to the environment. More » The ‘Make the Difference’ day on Saturday 14th June builds on Sainsbury’s Belgrave Road previous ‘Bag for Life’ days, where it gave away over 15 million Bags for Life, and its recent ‘Take an old bag shopping’ day, where the store reminded customers to re-use their bags. Now Sainsbury’s Belgrave Road is going to build on the success of both these activities and go one step further by rewarding customers for re-using their bags. Tony Howe, store manager, says: “I think it’s fantastic that we are rewarding customers for re-using bags and this will really help us to meet our 50% plastic bag reduction target.” ‘Make the difference’ days are a series of days, one each month, aimed at encouraging positive action and change across a range of environmental, health and ethical issues. « Less Posted: Wed, 14 May 2008 12:00 Sainsbury's Make The Difference Day 1% Fat Milk giveaway at Sainsbury’s Belgrave Road, Fosse Park, Wigston, Glen Road |
