How long have we been in existence?
The Society was founded in 1969 by a group of 10 ladies, some of whom are still active members. Since 1980 our membership has been over 100.

What are we?
The Aim is to encourage education in the art of Floral Design.
We are affiliated to the National Association of Flower Arrangers (NAFAS) – Charity No.1101348. We are part of the North Midlands Area.

Where do we meet and when?
The Society meets at Little Hill School, Launceston Road, Wigston usually on the second Wednesday of the month at 7.15 pm.

What happens at the meetings?
An Area, National demonstrator or florist who is an expert in the craft of flower arranging and knowledge of plants and foliage entertains us . Each demonstration is centred around a theme eg a show, holidays, colour, Victoriana etc accompanied by informative and amusing talks. At the end of the evening the flowers are raffled when some delighted members go home with a beautiful arrangement.

In November of each year we hold an Open Meeting which is a special occasion when a well-known demonstrator entertains and amazes us with a spectacular array of arrangements on the stage. These again are raffled at the end of the evening.

At each meeting there is a sales table and a table selling NAFAS goods, also a Bring and Buy plant table which raises funds for Charity.

What else do we do?
Several members take part in Flower Festivals which are held to raise funds for Charity eg Framework Knitters Museum, local Christmas Tree Festival etc.
In addition to the monthly demonstrations, Practice Classes are held, visits made to venues of interest, eg gardens, flower festivals etc. Talks with slides or films also feature in our annual programme and usually something different in December.

Once a year a competition is held for those with a competitive streak. The winner is presented with a Trophy and Garden Token.

Who are members of the Society?
If you like flowers and foliage and enjoy creativity either to watch or do yourself, we are sure you will find our meetings friendly and relaxing. Visitors are welcome at each meeting cost £4 or as a member for an annual subscription.
