To the memory of the Honourable ELIZABETH BARBARA daughter of JOHN, eleventh LORD ST JOHN of Bletsoe and wife to Sir HENRY HALFORD, of Wistow, Baronet. Distinguished by the graces and accomplishments which become a descent from a long line of noble ancestors. She was exemplary in the discharge of all her duties, studious to promote the welfare and happiness of all around her: Remarkable for sincerity of character, humble before God, charitable to mankind, a most affectionate wife and tender mother. Born February 22nd 1762 Died June 17th 1833

A3 - The Hon. Sir John Vaughan, Knt.
To the memory of the Honourable Sir JOHN VAUGHAN, KNT
Successively King’s Serjeant. Baron of the Exchequer. Justice of the Court of Common Pleas and Privy Councillor. He was the third son of JAMES VAUGHAN M.D. and HESTER his wife. He was born on the 11th of February 1768 and died on the 25th of September 1839. He married first AUGUSTA, daughter and coheiress of HENRY BEAUCHAMP, twelfth Lord St JOHN of Bletsoe and afterwards LOUISA daughter of SIR CHARLES WILLIAM HOUSE BOUGHTON. Bart and relict of St ANDREW thirteenth Lord ST JOHN of Bletsoe
Quick in sympathy of a temper open and playful; careless of wealth earnest for the things which are of good report to his long advocacy on the Midland Circuit and in Westminster Hall.
A vigorous intellect, a buoyant zeal, a humour rich and genial and a learned spirit of human dealing gave famous success. As a judge he administered the law diligently, equally and firmly
A4 - Sir Henry Halford
In memory of Sir HENRY St JOHN HALFORD Bart C.B. Lord of this manor eldest son of Sir HENRY HALFORD Bart MP and BARBARA his wife. Colonel 1st Vol Batt Leicestershire Regiment which he commanded for many years. Chairman of Quarter Sessions of this county and first Chairman of the County Council. A distinguished rifleman . He was born 9th Aug 1828 and died 4th Jan 1897. Also of Dame ELIZABETH URSULA his wife daughter of W.J.BAGSHAWE Esq of The Oaks near Sheffield. Born 27th Oct 1829 Died 30th Jan 1897
A5 - Sir Henry Halford, Bart.
Sacred to the memory of Sir HENRY HALFORD, Bart only son and heir of Sir HENRY HALFORD of Wistow Bart. Born on the 22nd of April 1797 he entered the British Army as an Ensign of the 43rd Regiment, in the year 1818. Was elected to represent in Parliament the Southern Division of Leicestershire in the year 1832; and retiring after an uninterrupted tenure of that seat for –five years, Died at Wistow, on the 22nd of May 1868. In political life, upright, consistent and active on behalf of the distressed; imbued with a genuine predilection for literature; towards men frank, kindly and unassuming; humble before God
A6 - Dame Barbara Halford
This tablet is raised in remembrance of Dame BARBARA HALFORD daughter of the Right Honble Sir JOHN and the Honble AUGUSTA VAUGHAN wife of Sir HENRY HALFORD, second Baronet, in the line of the second baronetcy in the Halford family; Born on the 26th of July 1806 she died on the 24th June 1869
Always active in things temporal, she was ever mindful of things eternal; ruled the house in prudence and charity; wore the gift of beauty without pride; and took the chastisement of continual sickness with the patience that comes of a gentle nature. Fortified by faith
A7 - Almeria Selina Hughes
Sacred to the memory of ALMERIA SELINA HUGHES, only daughter of JAMES VAUGHAN, M.D. and HESTER his wife, Born 1771, married 1817, the Rev Dr HUGHES, Principal of Jesus Coll: Oxford. Died March 27.1837 aged 66 years.

A8 - James Vaughan M.D. and Hester Vaughan
Sacred to the memory of JAMES VAUGHAN M.D. and of HESTER his wife who lie interred beneath this tablet.
JAMES VAUGHAN was descended from a respectable family in Herefordshire and practiced physic in Leicester almost forty years, with that felicity and success, which a quick perception, a sound judgement and a perfect knowledge of the resources of his art were calculated to command: he died August the 19th 1813 in the 75th year of his age.
HESTER VAUGHAN was the second daughter of WILLIAM SMALLEY Esqr of Leicester by ELIZABETH his wife, daughter of Sir RICHARD HALFORD Bart of this place. And was one of the gentlest and most amiable of women: She died April the 2d 1791, in the 51st year of her age.
By this connection with the house of Wistow and by the kind distinction of Sir CHARLES HALFORD Bart the last male heir of the HALFORDS, HENRY, eldest surviving son of JAMES and HESTER VAUGHAN, succeeded to the possessions of that ancient and loyal family.
