Photo taken August 2007. The moth had been in the house. It was taken out and given some grape to give it energy. The colour of the hind wing is hidden because the wings are closed.

Photo taken July 2007. This moth is a regular visitor to our porch. The caterpillars migrate into the porch from nearby plants, pupate, and later emerge as adult moths.

This amazing moth has been seen on a number of occasions in Wymeswold, and reported as recently as 2006. It hovers in front of a flower and uses its long proboscis to suck up the nectar. Please follow link for a photo
