£6000 raised for local and international good causes.

We're delighted to announce that the 2010 Open Gardens event has raised an astonishing £6000. Even though we were up against the England World Cup match on the Sunday afternoon, hundreds of people enjoyed touring the village.

St Mary's Church and the Wymeswold Methodist Chapel will both receive £2400 and the remaining £1200 will be distributed to village projects, including a substantial donation to the Seeds for Africa appeal.

The sun shone and more than 25 gardens opened to the public including several for the very first time. Visitors enjoyed a wide variety of entertainment including scarecrows, morris dancing, live music, wicker weaving displays, unusual crafts, pottery and art displays alongside traditional teas and ice creams.

Once again we thank our sponsors for helping us to fund the administration of the event. Thanks to GG Granvilles, the Three Crowns Pub, Six Acres Nurseries at Costock, Eon, Stephen Morris Landscapes, The Hammer and Pincers restaurant, Collington's Butchers, The Edge lawn and garden care, Bradmore Nurseries and Garden Centre, Blue Moon chicken farm, East Midlands Airport, Soar Valley Services Ltd and the Wymeswold Pharmacy.
